Designed to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3

Midgham
Two storey side extension with oak framing feature chimney and thatch, which the Practice successfully negotiated through the Planning Committee against Planning Officer’s recommendations.

Goring on Thames
A replacement dwelling for private clients, on the edge of a village in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
A bespoke project maximising the site potential on the edge of the village, with a ground floor accessible bedroom suite, double height internal spaces, a lift, flexible first floor space with sitting room and open plan views to the surrounding countryside.
The project uses high efficiency SIPs MMC constructed off site, with a Ground Source Heat Pump, PV Solar Panels and underfloor heating.

Pang Valley
A series of designs, based on desk based and site based historic research, 3D modelling and illustration, a Planning statement leading to an approved Planning Application for significant extensions to an historic mill and farmhouse on the banks of the River Pang, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The small farmhouse had been untouched for decades, and proposals were developed to preserve historic fabric, whilst achieving a four bedroom house, including reconstructing an attached oak framed barn, to create a double height living area, with a gallery overlooking the river.

Reading
Rear extension to a Listed building in Reading, Berkshire.
A low scale, lightweight, dynamic modern structure that relates closely to the existing fabric and situation.
The plan develops from the activities within, and reflects the angled walls of an historic two storey bay extension.

Aldworth Road
Illustrating a preliminary design exercise investigating how to improve the appearance of a dated house whilst providing additional space.
The project used 3D models to test out different potential designs and finishes for the extensions.

Buckhold
An extension that complements the architecture of an existing 19th Century building, designed by renowned architect Alfred Waterhouse.
The first floor timber frame structure was a challenge to integrate as it overlaps the kitchen requiring primary steel structure.
The extension changed the orientation of the building, moving the prime frontage to address the gardens.

A Berkshire Cottage
Various potential cladding options for a radical extension to a modest thatched rural cottage, for a client who wanted something different.
